The Bass Cook-Off



 

Rob pulls an ace out of his sleeve and recruits chef Matt Hall from Social in Ottawa to go up against Heeb in the Bass Cook-Off which takes place at The Cove in Westport, ON



Heeb shows off his fresh corn and pepper salsa which he will use as a base under the Bass

Matt and Heeb jostle for space on the six burner range in the kitchen at The Cove. A one hour time constraint was put on the cook-off so it's a scramble in the kitchen to make it happen. 

Rob asks Matt (for the third time) how long he needs to blanch the white asparagus for.                                                                                            

Randy puts his heart into the introductions and get's the crowd cheering like crazy!
The crowd is enjoying every minute and really gets involved (even without Applause signs!)

Final touches are put on the dishes in the kitchen in preparation for judging.

 

Rob and Matt enter the dining room with their three plates for the judges.
A very elegant display on long rectangular plates is presented by Rob and Matt.
The judges taste and comment on the various aspects of the dish that they are enjoying.
Terry raises a glass to the flavours in Rob and Matt's creation.
 Next Heeb brings in his plates.
Heeb goes for more of a fresh herb and lemon/lime dish.
A judge shows the crowd the lime basket garnish stuffed with fresh thyme flowers that Heeb has used on his plates.
Judges hold up their spatulas with their winner! I wonder who won the cup this time?
